Soccer Recap: Cox Comes Up Short

Cox lost against Ocean Lakes back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Falcons came up short against the Dolphins, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Cox can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Ocean Lakes are ranked third).

Cox has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Ocean Lakes, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Cox will challenge rival Tallwood at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Ocean Lakes is set to square off against their familiar foe Kempsville at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Ocean Lakes are on a five-game streak of home wins, Kempsville a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
