Basketball Recap: Wilcox-Hildreth Takes a Loss

Wilcox-Hildreth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Shelton Bulldogs, falling 70-37. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 89-52 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Wilcox-Hildreth's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Lienemann, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Johnson, who put up ten points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Wilcox-Hildreth smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Ben Myers, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds for Shelton. With that strong performance, Myers is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Ohlman, who earned 19 points and six rebounds.

Wilcox-Hildreth's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Shelton, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilcox-Hildreth will take on Red Cloud in a holiday battle at on Tuesday. Shelton and Lawrence-Nelson will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shelton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.4 points per game this season.
