Basketball Recap: Mira Mesa Takes a Loss

Mira Mesa lost against Madison back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the Mira Mesa Marauders and the Madison Warhawks didn't end well, with the Mira Mesa Marauders falling 76-62. The Marauders were down 60-34 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Madison got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Runnar(Rj) Miller out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. That's the most points Miller has posted since back in December of 2024. Jorge Luque was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Mira Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 19-4. As for Madison, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Mira Mesa and Madison should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Mira Mesa will square off against La Jolla at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday up 296 places (119 vs. 415). Similarly, Madison (ranked 204th) will meet Coronado (ranked 617th) at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
