Basketball Recap: Brighton Skates Past Raleigh-Egypt with Ease

Brighton had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs 48-19. That 29 point margin sets a new team best for the Cardinals this season.

Brighton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Da'Lyjah Maclin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Maclin has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rihanna Wilson, who posted five points in addition to ten assists and five boards.

Brighton was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Brighton's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-17. As for Raleigh-Egypt, they are on a 29-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brighton will venture away from home to challenge Millington Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brighton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Raleigh-Egypt has already played their next game (against Munford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
