Baseball Game Preview: East Side Red Raiders vs. Golda Och Academy

The East Side Red Raiders will head out on the road to face off against Golda Och Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Golda Och Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on East Side, who comes in off a win.

East Side is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since May 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Plainfield.

Kelvin Ramos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, East Side's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jose Rodriguez Jr., who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Rodriguez Jr. has posted since back in April. Jhoan Ventura also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Golda Och Academy's offense. They came up short against Payne Tech last Monday, falling 18-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which Golda Och Academy was not able to get on the board.

Golda Och Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for East Side, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
