Soccer Game Preview: Wando vs. Asheville

The Wando Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Asheville Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wando's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Wando is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: A.C. Reynolds, who was ranked 12th in their home state at the time (Wando was ranked tenth). The Warriors fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 2-1 on Friday. Wando's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Asheville kept a clean sheet against North Buncombe on Wednesday. They blew past the Black Hawks 9-0. Asheville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by nine goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting North Buncombe from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Peyton Case led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

The win made it two in a row for Asheville and bumps their season record up to 8-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matchups. As for Wando, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
