Basketball Game Preview: Shelby-Rising City Huskies vs. East Butler Tigers

The Shelby-Rising City Huskies are taking a road trip to take on the East Butler Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Shelby-Rising City was beaten by Thayer Central 58-23. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Titans are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, East Butler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 65-18 loss at the hands of Cross County. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-6.

Shelby-Rising City will have to contain Lillie Kriz as she made an impact in East Butler's last game. She went 6 for 13 en route to 13 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Kriz is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last five games she's played.

Shelby-Rising City dropped their record down to 6-14 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for East Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Everything went Shelby-Rising City's way against East Butler when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Shelby-Rising City made off with a 49-23 victory.
