Soccer Game Preview: Canutillo vs. Chapin

The Canutillo Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Chapin Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Chapin will have to contend with a Canutillo team hungry for a win, something the squad hasn't seen since January 10. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Burges who was credited with the victory on Friday. Burges got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Canutillo's three. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 520th, while the Mustangs are ranked 205th).

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Chapin turned things around against Jefferson on Friday. They put the hurt on the Silver Foxes with a sharp 3-0 win. The score was close at the half, but the Huskies pulled away in the second half with two goals.

Canutillo's loss dropped their record down to 3-8-1. As for Chapin, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7-1.

Canutillo skirted past Chapin 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Canutillo repeat their success, or does Chapin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
