Softball Game Preview: New Summerfield Hornets vs. Mt. Enterprise Wildcats

For the second straight game, New Summerfield will face off against Mt. Enterprise. The Hornets will square off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Summerfield comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

New Summerfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 23-9 to Mt. Enterprise on Tuesday.

For Mt. Enterprise's part, Chasity Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Garcia has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Jorden Jackson and Kianna Ballard did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Ballard scored four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most hits Jackson has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Breanne Morris, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Mt. Enterprise kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.

Mt. Enterprise's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-6. As for New Summerfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
