Basketball Recap: Largo Comes Up Short

Largo played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders and fell 60-26. The Packers haven't had much luck with the Marauders recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, Largo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kennedi Robertson posted 16 points and six rebounds. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Robertson. Marce Del Rosario also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Largo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups.

Clearwater Central Catholic was led to victory by Sophia Landen and Emme Dalhoff. Landen went 7 of 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 25 points and eight boards, while Dalhoff almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists. Dalhoff is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Julia Comfort was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Largo's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Largo will challenge Academy of the Holy Names at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they will face off against River Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
