Volleyball Game Preview: Wayland Warriors vs. Newton South Lions

The Wayland Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Newton South Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayland will be strutting in after a victory while Newton South will be coming in after a loss.

Newton South will be up against a hot Wayland team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Warriors walked away with a 3-1 win over Natick on Friday.

Wayland had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 12-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-9.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Newton South took on Newton North on Friday. The Lions fell 3-1 to the Tigers. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost five in a row.

While Newton South had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 25-18.

Newton South's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Wayland, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 11-7.

Wayland took their win against Newton South when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
