Softball Game Preview: Carondelet Cougars vs. Livermore Cowboys

The Carondelet Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Livermore Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carondelet will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Carondelet will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Monte Vista, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cougars walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Mustangs on Thursday.

Maia Scholtens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carondelet's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kiley Abrojena, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Abrojena has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Livermore came up short against Amador Valley on Friday and fell 8-5. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carondelet's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Livermore, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Carondelet couldn't quite get it done against Livermore when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
