Softball Recap: Poteet Victorious

Poteet picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Centennial Titans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Faith Castellanos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those home runs were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Poteet got a big performance out of Ayshah Patterson, who earned two runs and four stolen bases. Sofia Fuentes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Poteet hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Poteet now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Centennial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Poteet will face off against Nimitz at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday. As for Centennial, they will take on Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Titans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
