Softball Recap: Marshfield Comes Up Short

Marshfield had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-6 to make it four. They fell 5-1 to the D.C. Everest Evergreens. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Evergreens when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Marshfield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rhyan Costa, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for D.C. Everest, the win keeps they at an undefeated 9-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average this season.

On D.C. Everest's side, Addison Kluck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. Kluck has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mara Meverden and Brooke Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Meverden went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Brown went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Coming up, Marshfield will take on Stevens Point at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for D.C. Everest, they will face off against Merrill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
