Volleyball Recap: Wekiva Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Wekiva was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Jones on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs came up short against the Oak Ridge Pioneers on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Wekiva was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23, 25-21.

Avianna Mater paced Wekiva's offense, picking up six kills. Mater got some help from Isabella Espada and her two assists. Mater was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Wekiva's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Oak Ridge, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Wekiva will head out to challenge Colonial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Ridge, they will welcome Cornerstone Charter Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
