Volleyball Recap: Cate Takes a Loss

Cate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bishop Diego Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 two weeks ago.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Cate sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-0, 0-25, 25-0, 0-25, 15-0.

Cate's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Bishop Diego, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-11.

Looking ahead, Cate will head out to take on Carpinteria at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bishop Diego, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Laguna Blanca at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight.
