The softball season in Texas is winding down with some players putting up monster numbers. MaxPreps looks at the top five players in three major statistical offensive categories.

Batting average

Cat Patterson, Jr., Brazosport Christian (Lake Jackson), .746
Patterson is remarkably 50-for-67 at the plate this season. She's had multiple hits in 17 of her team's 22 games this season. Patterson has collected 26 extra-base hits.

Shelby Gayre, Sr., D'Hanis, .722
Of Gayre's 52 hits this season, 37 have been of the extra-base variety. She certainly packs a lot of punch at the plate. Gayre has eight games of three or more hits.

Delaney Schmidt, Sr., Nazarene Christian Academy (Crowley), .721
As a junior, Schmidt hit .719 for the season, so a high batting average is nothing new for her. In her last 11 games, she is 32-for-41.

Claire Wehrly, Jr., Brazosport Christian (Lake Jackson), .720
Wehrly is 36-for-50 this season and has 12 multi-hit games. She's mainly a singles hitter, but also has 12 doubles on the year.

Anna Borgen, Sr., Dallas Christian (Mesquite), .711
Borgen has ripped 81 hits this season and been on base another 26 times via walk. She isn't just one-dimensional, winning 18 games on the mound for her team.

Bailey Rabalais, Sr., Shelbyville, 19
Rabalais has five multiple home runs games this season, including a stretch of six in three games. She has also three grand slams. Of her 52 hits, 30 have been for extra bases.

Shelby Gayre, Sr., D'Hanis, 18
Gayre is a great all-around player with power and a .789 on-base percentage. She has had a power surge of late with five home runs in her last four games.

Kasey Flores, Jr., Eastlake (El Paso), 17
Flores has homered in five of her last six games. She has gone deep in 14 games this season with her team being victorious in every one of those contests.

Abby Buettner, Fr., Ryan (Denton), 16
Buettner is continuing to put up big numbers in her freshman campaign. She's homered in four of her last seven games after homering just two during a seven-game stretch.

Runs batted in
Jazmyne Armendariz, Jr., Chapin (El Paso), 88
Armendariz has at least one RBI in 30 of her team's 36 games this year. In 15 games, she has driven in three or more runs and has three seven-RBI games.

Abby Buettner, Fr., Ryan (Denton), 76
Buettner has been on a tear, collecting 23 RBIs in the last seven games. She has RBIs in all but six games, and seven contests with five or more runs driven in.

Bailey Rabalais, Sr., Shelbyville, 71
Rabalais has tallied 37 RBIs in the last 11 games. That includes 16 extra-base hits during that stretch. She just had a two-homer, seven-RBI game on April 18.
