Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Battle Creek's Fourth in Last Five Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Summertown, Battle Creek was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They never let the Loretto Mustangs get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Ryan Weber's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has become a key player for Battle Creek: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 13-14 otherwise.

At the plate, JR Mathis was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jack Whitworth, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Battle Creek has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Loretto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-16.

Battle Creek has already played their next game, a 7-1 defeat against Summertown on the 4th. Loretto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
