Baseball Recap: New Ulm Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

New Ulm posted their closest win since April 15th on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] Titans, sneaking past 5-4.

Mitchell Hopp tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Levi Hopp was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. Ben Alfred also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

New Ulm pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center], they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Ulm will venture away from home to take on Waseca at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center], they will head out to challenge Belle Plaine at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
