Recap: Pond Creek-Hunter Panthers vs. Ringwood Red Devils
On Friday, The Pond Creek-Hunter Panthers faced the Ringwood Red Devils in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pond Creek-Hunter walked away with a 50-42 win over Ringwood. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
When it comes to explaining why Ringwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rowdy Schmidt. Despite the final result, he rushed for 116 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns.
The win makes it two in a row for Pond Creek-Hunter and bumps their season record up to 5-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Kremlin-Hillsdale and 3-6 Ringwood. As for Ringwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pond Creek-Hunter will stay at home for another week and welcome Cherokee at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Cherokee is ranked 22nd, while Pond Creek-Hunter is ranked 25th). As for Ringwood, they will be playing at home against Garber at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Garber is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
