Football Recap: Georgetown Takes a Loss

Georgetown extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They were beaten by Marlboro County 34-0. Georgetown was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Marlboro County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

As for Marlboro County, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.3 points on average over those games.

Marlboro County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tre Blakeney out in front who rushed for 119 yards and two TDs on only ten carries. Those 119 rushing yards gave Blakeney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Hailey, who rushed for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries.

Georgetown wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 63-12 defeat against Loris on the 17th. As for Marlboro County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 20-6 loss against Dillon on the 17th.
