Baseball Recap: Somerset Comes Up Short

Somerset fell victim to Floresville and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Tigers/Jaguars by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Eleazar Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.

Somerset's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Floresville, they pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Somerset will challenge Uvalde at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Floresville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pearsall at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
