Game recap: Mercyhurst Prep defeats Youngsville as Barclay runs for four touchdowns

Mercyhurst Prep (Erie, Pa.) beat Youngsville (Pa.) 48-18 after a strong game from Cornelius Barclay, who rushed for four touchdowns. The scores gave the senior 12 touchdowns for the year.

After taking the lead on a Ryan Connor touchdown run in the first quarter, the Lakers led 21-12 at the half.

Mercyhurst Prep expanded its lead to 23 points entering the fourth quarter. MP scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Nick Evanoff to Connor.

Mike Hamerick played well for the Eagles. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns.

Barclay played well for the Erie school in the victory. The senior running back kicked six extra points. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.



The Lakers got revenge for last year's 25-13 loss to Youngsville with the victory.

The win was a nice bounce back for Mercyhurst Prep, which lost to Eisenhower last week, 26-25.

Mercyhurst Prep (3-2) will play a District 10 Region 2 A game against Maplewood next week, while Youngsville (1-4) will take on Union City also in a District 10 Region 2 A game.
