Softball Recap: Franklin Has No Trouble Against Wayne Memorial

Franklin got themselves on the board against Wayne Memorial on Wednesday, but Wayne Memorial never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Zebras. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kayla Schniers was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Schniers was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Serenity DeLaney was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Grace Wonfor, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.

Franklin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win made it two in a row for Franklin and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Wayne Memorial, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will host Farmington at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wayne Memorial, they will be playing at home against Glenn at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
