Basketball Game Preview: Wellsville Tigers vs. Southern Indians

After both having extra time off, the Wellsville Tigers and the Southern Indians will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

If Southern heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Wellsville took over last week. Wellsville walked away with a 63-51 victory over Oak Glen last Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Meanwhile, Southern was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Friday as they fell 76-71 to Columbiana. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 715th, while the Clippers are ranked 224th).

Southern has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Wellsville, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Everything came up roses for Wellsville against Southern in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 71-30 victory. Does Wellsville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southern turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
