Basketball Recap: Sterling Drops Season-High Score on Sharpstown

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sterling). They breezed by the Sharpstown Apollos to the tune of 68-8 on Tuesday. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Sterling's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Destiny Lewis, who went 12 for 18 on her way to 29 points in addition to eight steals and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least a third of Sterling's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Morrow, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards.

Lewis wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Sterling was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Sterling pushed their record up to 9-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.0 points per game. As for Sharpstown, they are on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Sterling will take on Galena Park at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Sharpstown, they will face off against Milby at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday.
