Preview: Lone Peak Knights vs. American Fork Cavemen

Lone Peak is 10-0 against American Fork since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lone Peak Knights will head out on the road to take on the American Fork Cavemen at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lone Peak has seven straight victories, American Fork has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Tuesday, Lone Peak faced Skyridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lone Peak blew past Skyridge 81-19 on the road. Lone Peak has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Lone Peak's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shawnee Nordstrom led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven assists and two steals. Nordstrom hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Naia Tanuvasa, who scored 16 points along with five steals.

Meanwhile, American Fork came up short against Pleasant Grove on Tuesday and fell 56-48.

Lone Peak pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.6 points. As for American Fork, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Everything went Lone Peak's way against American Fork in their previous matchup back in January as Lone Peak made off with a 66-44 win. With Lone Peak ahead 34-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
