Basketball Recap: Peach County Trojans vs. Dougherty Trojans
Peach County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dougherty Trojans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Peach County this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-48 back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Peach County lost, don't look at Ronnie Covington. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Covington continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cam Cherry, who posted 17 points and six rebounds.
Dougherty's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marcus Heath Jr, who scored 12 points. The dominant performance gave Heath Jr a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Davious Johnson, who had eight points.
Peach County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Dougherty, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
