Basketball Recap: Chase Owens leads a balanced attack to beat Pocahontas County

Basketball Recap: Pendleton County Wildcat vs. Pocahontas County Warriors

The Pendleton County Wildcat scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 79-54 margin over Pocahontas County. With that victory, Pendleton County brought their scoring average up to 53.7 points per game.

Pendleton County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Owens out in front who scored 22 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Owens has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Kimble, who scored 23 points.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dillon Dunz, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Dunz is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Matthew S mcquain was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with two steals.

Even though they lost, Pocahontas County were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Pendleton County now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Pocahontas County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.

Pendleton County will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in West Virginia (Petersburg is ranked 42nd, while the Wildcat are ranked 67th). As for Pocahontas County, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Tygarts Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 two weeks ago.
