Baseball Recap: Monsignor Scanlan Comes Up Short

Monsignor Scanlan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They lost 10-4 to the Xavier Knights. The Crusaders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in April of 2022.

Kervin DePaula made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jose Jacob Luyando, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Monsignor Scanlan's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Xavier, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Monsignor Scanlan is taking a road trip to square off against Cardinal Spellman at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Xavier, they will welcome Salesian at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
