            Softball Recap: Meridian Trojans vs. Nooksack Valley Pioneers        
        
		
        
        
            Meridian had lost five straight on the road, but  on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it six. They came up short against  the Nooksack Valley Pioneers, falling  13-3. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing  10-6 to the Pioneers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
  Sydney TenKley was cooking despite her team's loss,   going a perfect 3-for-3 with three  RBI and one  double.
As for Nooksack Valley, the  win was  the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.
On Nooksack Valley's side,  Payton Bartl made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits. Bartl has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with four  RBI and two  runs. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in March.
 In other batting news,  Alyxis Larson was  excellent,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with two  stolen bases, one  run,  and one  RBI. Those  three  hits gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Alayna Dykstra, who  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  double.
 Coincidentally, Meridian and Nooksack Valley will both be playing Sedro-Woolley the next time they take the field. The Pioneers will head out to face the Cubs at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday, while the Trojans will  host them  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
