West Springfield and Lake Braddock are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2023, but likely not for long. The Spartans will square off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. West Springfield is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

West Springfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Fairfax a 5-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Lake Braddock made easy work of Mount Vernon on Saturday and carried off a 7-1 victory. Considering the Bruins have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lake Braddock got a great performance from Leo Dell'Omo as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Dell'Omo posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Henry Mahns was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Gibson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Lake Braddock has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for West Springfield, they pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

West Springfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Braddock when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
