Preview: St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings vs. Annapolis Area Christian Eagles

The St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings will be playing at home against the Annapolis Area Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Friday, St. John's Catholic Prep came up short against Sidwell Friends and fell 27-19. While losing is never fun, St. John's Catholic Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 182nd in Maryland, while Sidwell Friends is ranked 18th in District of Columbia).

Zion Ntemi put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 289 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Shane Meyer, who threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Annapolis Area Christian fell victim to Severn School's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 42-0 defeat at the hands of the Admirals. Annapolis Area Christian just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.

This is the second loss in a row for St. John's Catholic Prep and nudges their season record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-3 Severn School (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.9% over those games). As for Annapolis Area Christian, their defeat was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-6-1.

Everything came up roses for St. John's Catholic Prep against Annapolis Area Christian in their previous meeting back in October as the squad secured a 34-0 win. Will St. John's Catholic Prep repeat their success, or does Annapolis Area Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
