Preview: Walnut Ridge Scots vs. Independence 76ers
Walnut Ridge is 9-1 against Independence since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Walnut Ridge Scots will head out on the road to take on the Independence 76ers at 7:00 p.m. Walnut Ridge is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Even though West scored an imposing 71 points on Tuesday, Walnut Ridge still came out on top. Walnut Ridge strolled past West with points to spare, taking the game 88-71. Given Walnut Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while West is ranked 477th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lj Foster was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Deon Johnson, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, sadly, Independence is still looking for their first win of the season after 18 matches. They fell to West 51-47.
Walnut Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.
Everything came up roses for Walnut Ridge against Independence in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 82-35 victory. With Walnut Ridge ahead 51-21 at the half, the game was all but over already.
