Basketball Recap: Eastgate Life Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of six wins, Eastgate Life Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 53-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Philadelphia Christian School Eagles. Eastgate Life Academy was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Philadelphia Christian School earlier this season, when they won 62-41.

Despite the loss, Eastgate Life Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grayson Mayfield almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Mayfield is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Miller, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Eastgate Life Academy's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. As for Philadelphia Christian School, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.

Coming up, Eastgate Life Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Woody Gap at 5:00 p.m. As for Philadelphia Christian School, they will square off against Mountain Area Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
