Softball Recap: Lecanto's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

There's no place like home for Lecanto, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Central Bears with a sharp 11-1 win on Thursday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Panthers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Abigail Males was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Shawna Griffin and Anna Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Griffin scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Taylor scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Taylor has posted since back in February. Kierstyn Swayze was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Lecanto hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central struck out ten times.

Lecanto moved to 7-11 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Coming up, Lecanto will be playing in front of their home fans against Nature Coast Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central, they will take on Citrus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
