Basketball Recap: Columbus Beats Onalaska for Their 14th Straight Win

With a playoff win on the line, Columbus rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 84-62 margin over the Onalaska Wildcats. The Cardinals are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 14 straight.

Grayson Rigdon was his usual excellent self, going 14-for-30 en route to 45 points along with seven assists and seven boards. The contest was his 19th in a row with at least 19 points. Camdon Pitchford was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten assists.

Columbus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in 16 consecutive matchups.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Patrick Roth, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Roth continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Vienneau, who posted 15 points and six boards.

Columbus pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points over those games. As for Onalaska, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 33-7.

Looking ahead, Columbus will square off against Tatum at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Tatum will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Columbus surely won't give up without a fight. Onalaska does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
