Basketball Recap: Ridgeway Piles Up the Points Against St. Benedict at Auburndale

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southwind, Ridgeway was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the St. Benedict at Auburndale Eagles 75-48. The victory was some much needed relief for the Roadrunners as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ridgeway was led to victory by Kayin Mitchell and Marjavis Chandler. Mitchell went 9 for 16 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds, while Chandler went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Demario Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists.

Ridgeway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Ridgeway now has a winning record of 6-5. As for St. Benedict at Auburndale, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgeway will head out to challenge White Station at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Benedict at Auburndale, they will venture away from home to take on Rossville Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
