Softball Recap: Lockwood Sets Scoring Season-High Against East Helena

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lockwood). They blew past the East Helena Vigilantes 23-3 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the LIONS with their most commanding win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Marley Chiasson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Chiasson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Ana Plutt also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Lockwood lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Lockwood and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.5 runs over those games. As for East Helena, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Coming up, Lockwood will face off against Billings Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Helena, they will challenge Corvallis at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Vigilantes are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
