Basketball Game Preview: North Phoenix Preparatory Academy Gladiators vs. Maryvale Prep Matador

Having just played yesterday, the North Phoenix Preparatory Academy Gladiators will head out on the road to face off against the Maryvale Prep Matador at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maryvale Prep took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, who comes in off a win.

North Phoenix Preparatory Academy is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Phoenix Day School for the Deaf: they outscored them in every quarter. North Phoenix Preparatory Academy was the clear victor by a 51-27 margin over Phoenix Day School for the Deaf on Thursday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Gladiators had established a 20 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Maryvale Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against Anthem Prep, falling 73-35. While losing is never fun, the Matador can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Eagles are ranked 144th).

Maryvale Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8.

North Phoenix Preparatory Academy was taken down by Maryvale Prep 53-26 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can North Phoenix Preparatory Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
