Valencia triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Damian Estrada

Recap: Valencia Jaguars vs. Los Alamos Hilltoppers

The Valencia Jaguars posted their biggest win since December 29, 2023 on Thursday. They put the hurt on Los Alamos with a sharp 66-46 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Valencia also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Damian Estrada was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge Zuniga, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Niko Garcia and Josiah Fresquez certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Garcia scored 20 points along with eight rebounds, while Fresquez scored 16 points along with three steals. Fresquez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Lan Frazier was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

Valencia's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Los Alamos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valencia will face off against St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (St. Pius X is ranked 29th, while Valencia is ranked 44th). Los Alamos' road trip will continue as they head out to face Bernalillo at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
