Football Recap: Redbank Valley Starts off Right with Win over Ridgway/Johnsonburg

Redbank Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 32-21 win over Ridgway/Johnsonburg. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Ridgway/Johnsonburg are ranked 439th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Redbank Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braylon Wagner, who threw for 288 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 48 yards. That's the most passing touchdowns Wagner has posted since back in September of 2024. Jaxon Huffman was another key receiver, gaining 153 total yards and two touchdowns.

Redbank Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 24-22 loss against Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley on the 28th. As for Ridgway/Johnsonburg, they will face off against Smethport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
