Softball Recap: James River Midlothian Takes a Loss

If James River Midlothian was feeling good fresh off their 21-5 takedown of L.C. Bird last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rapids took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Midlothian Trojans on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rapids of the 9-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

James River Midlothian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Georgia Swenck, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double was Swenck's first of the season.

James River Midlothian's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Midlothian, the win keeps they at an undefeated 8-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James River Midlothian will venture away from home to square off against Powhatan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Rapids surely won't give up without a fight. As for Midlothian, they will head out on the road to take on Lightridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bolts have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
