Basketball Recap: Manual Takes a Loss

On Thursday, the Manual Rams were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-40 to the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs.

Despite the loss, Manual still got an impressive performance from Nyanna Payton, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 boards. Payton has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ma'Kya Maxwell, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Manual smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

Manual's loss dropped their record down to 21-12. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 30-3.

Manual does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they will challenge Monmouth-Roseville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
