Volleyball Recap: Sandalwood Takes a Loss

After flying high against San Jose Prep on Tuesday, Sandalwood came back down to earth. The Saints took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stanton Blue Devils on Thursday. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Stanton got the win, Sandalwood sure made them earn it: two sets took extra rallies. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 26-24, 17-25, 25-16.

Laeyan Rafat was nothing short of spectacular for Stanton: she had 11 digs and two aces. Rafat has been hot, having also posted 12 or more assists the last eight times she's played.

Sandalwood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coincidentally, Sandalwood and Stanton will both be playing Englewood the next time they take the court. The Saints will host the Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Blue Devils will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
