Baseball Recap: Nauset Regional Warriors vs. Bishop Stang Spartans
Nauset Regional had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-9 to make it four. They lost 16-0 to the Bishop Stang Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on April 1st.
As for Bishop Stang, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
For Bishop Stang's part, Brock Winslow was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Winslow a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amir Cartagena, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nauset Regional will head out to face off against Barnstable at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors are facing the Red Hawks at the right time seeing as the Red Hawks are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Bishop Stang, they will head out on the road to challenge Cardinal Spellman at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
