It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Kirbyville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Kountze Lions, sneaking past 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 back in March.

David Fussell made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Cooper Murphy was excellent, going 2-for-6 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

Kirbyville pushed their record up to 20-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Kountze, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season.

Kirbyville will face off against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Kountze does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
