Basketball Game Preview: Cherryvale Chargers vs. Frontenac Raiders

The Cherryvale Chargers will challenge the Frontenac Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Cherryvale took their contest with ease, bagging a 62-30 win over Fredonia. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Frontenac had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 47-29 victory over the Jayhawks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Cherryvale pushed their record up to 14-3-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points over those games. As for Frontenac, the victory got them back to even at 8-8-1.

Things could have been worse for Cherryvale, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-48 loss to Frontenac in their previous matchup back in March of 2023.
