After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Stuart W. Cramer, Cherryville was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They strolled past the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets with points to spare, taking the game 50-33. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Ironmen's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Cherryville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Javarius McElhaney led the charge by rushing for 152 yards and four TDs. Elijah Proctor was another major influence, as he rushed for 38 yards and ran in a TD.

When it comes to explaining why Bessemer City lost, don't look at Gavin Chastain. Despite the final result, he threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 31 yards. 108 of Chastain's passing yards were hauled in by Walt Mccoy, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

The victory got Cherryville back to even at 5-5. As for Bessemer City, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
