Basketball Recap: Alliance Comes Up Short

Alliance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Scottsbluff Bearcats, falling 86-48. The Bulldogs lost against the Bearcats in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 64-51 score last time.

Alliance's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Seth Meyring, who went 6 for 8 to rack up 13 points and six rebounds. What's more, Meyring also posted a 75% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trevor Zurn, who posted seven points and seven boards.

Scottsbluff's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keon Delgado, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Delgado is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Rylee Meininger was another key player, going 8 of 11 en route to 18 points.

Alliance's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Scottsbluff, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

Alliance wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-48 defeat against McCook on the 8th. As for Scottsbluff, they have also already played their next match, an 86-56 victory against Sidney on the 8th.
